The Story of Two Blind Men (Matt. 9:27-31)

When God created us he gave us two eyes. How important are your eyes to you? What would your life be like if you could not see? Are you thankful God gave you eyes so you can see to get around and look on all the beautiful things in this world? I think the best way to prove we are thankful for our eyes is to use them for good things: like reading the Bible and Bible Stories, like using our eyes to help others, etc. The sad fact is that there are many people in this world that cannot see. I believe God helps them in many ways to overcome their handicap, but at the same time they need our help and prayers. Today’s Bible Story is about two blind men that came to Jesus and asked him to heal them. We don’t know a lot about these men, but there are some very important lessons to learn from them. The first thing the Bible says is that they followed Jesus, and I think that means they probably had friends with good eyes that were helping them follow Jesus. Are you somebody’s good friend? When these men got close enough, they cried out and said, “Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.” They really believed Jesus came from God because they had heard about his teaching and his many miracles. Jesus asked them, “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” Of course, their answer was a big “Yes!” Jesus touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith be it unto you.” That meant if they really believed Jesus was able to do it, their eyes would be healed; but if they did not believe, then their eyes would not be healed. Did they really believe, and were they really healed? The Bible says “their eyes were opened,” and they were so excited that they went everywhere telling others what Jesus had done for them. Boys and girls, let us really believe in Jesus. He will really help us if we do.
