Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
John asked, “I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?” How unworthy He felt to be the one called to minister to Jesus in such a unique way. God is still calling people to minister to Jesus, and there can be no greater honor than doing so. We are told in the scriptures that the Father takes note even when a cup of water is given to someone in Jesus’ name. Is there something God is asking you to do for Jesus through his Word and through the Holy Spirit? Is he saying to you as he said to John, “Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness?” May God help us to look for opportunities to minister to Jesus every day of this new year he gives us.
