And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
In the church ordinance of the Lord’s Supper, instituted by Jesus, we are given a special way to remember and be thankful for what Jesus did for us at Calvary. His body was broken for us; his blood was shed for us; and each time we take the bread and the cup, we do “show the Lord’s death till he comes.” Let us always value highly the blessing that is ours in partaking of the Lord’s Supper together with God’s people.
