And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Children are special to Jesus, and children should be special to us. Today’s Bible passage teaches that what we do to and for children, we are doing to and for Jesus; and the greatest thing we can do for children is to love them. I remember a 4th grader in one of my schools who took a bottle of pills and almost lost her life. She told me later that she had to do it to find out if her parents really loved her. Oh, let us love our children and all of God’s children, and let us do it for Jesus.
