John, the Baptist, really preached it straight, “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance.” Friends, there is only one evidence of repentance and that is the fruit of repentance. We may try others like the feeling of repentance or even words of repentance, but they will be refused. It is only the deeds of repentance that brings peace to the soul.
