Romans 6:21-23 (KJV)

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What a gift God has given us, the gift of eternal life! I think this Bible passage makes it clear that God gives us eternal life by first saving us from our sins. If we receive the gift, we will bear the fruit of that gift. Our here and now life is a time of trial and testing, but one day it will all be over; and the wages we reap in eternity will be determined by how we responded to Jesus in this life. Oh, may God through Jesus find in me “fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”
