1 Corinthians 1:18-20 (KJV)

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

How foolish are those who count “the preaching of the cross” as foolishness. The wisdom of the wise and the understanding of the prudent will be all brought to nothing and will be destroyed because they counted the preaching of the cross as foolishness. The preaching of the cross not only destroys the wisdom of the wicked, but it also “is the power of God” to save all those who put their trust in Jesus. “Jesus paid it all; all to him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain; he washed it white as snow.” By Calvary God “made foolish the wisdom of this world,” and by Calvary God saves all who believe on his Son.
