Psalm 131 (KJV)

LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.

This psalm is about hope and trust; and oh, how we need to hope and trust in God “from henceforth and forever.” A haughty heart, lofty eyes, and arrogance of spirit have nothing to do with trusting but belong to those who have not submitted themselves to God. Psalm 131 teaches that as little children trust in loving and caring parents, so do we depend upon our Father which in heaven; and we know with strong confidence that “He will never leave nor forsake us.”
