The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread…Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils. ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
Let us always remember and be thankful that Jesus loved us so much that he died on a cross to save us from our sins; that is the central purpose of the Lord’s Supper. Together, we become partakers of that one bread (Christ); but how unreasonable to think that Christians would partake of the Lord’s table and then a few days later partake of a table offered in remembrance of idols (or devils). The Bible is very clear on this matter, “Ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.”
