2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV)

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

How did Jesus become poor? He gave up his original glory in heaven by coming to earth; he was born of a poor virgin; he lived a life of poverty; he died on a cross; and he was even buried in the tomb of another. Why did Jesus do all of that? He gave himself to poverty, persecution, suffering, and death that we might become rich; rich in faith now, and rich in glory forever. “And now let the weak say, I am strong; let the poor say, I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us.” Friends, let’s hold our head and our heart high; Jesus really loves us!
