We should never give up on prayer. It is reported that George Mueller began praying for five of his friends. After many months, one of them came to the Lord. Ten years later, two others were converted. It took 25 years before the fourth man was saved. Mueller persevered in prayer until his death for the fifth friend, and his prayer was answered for soon after his funeral the last one was saved. Today’s verse tells us to “pray one for another, that ye may be healed” and it assures us that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” When we pray in God’s will and believe, God hears and answers prayer; but He does so in His own way and time and remember, “God’s clock keeps perfect time.”
