The Story of Job, Part 2 (Job 2)

Job lost his 7,000 sheep, his 3,000 camels, his 500 yoke of oxen, his 500 donkeys, and his servants were all gone. The most difficult loss of all was his seven sons and three daughters, and the devil caused it all to happen in the same day. Did Job blame God or curse God to his face as Satan said he would? No, Job still believed in God and he still loved God. He did not know what was going on, but he knew he could still trust God to take care of him. He said, “The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” I’m sure God was very proud of Job, but wait, the story is not over. Satan came before God again and said that Job would curse him to his face if he would do harm to his body. God said, “Behold he is in thine hand;” but God would not allow Satan to kill him. Satan then afflicted Job with very painful boils from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. Job was very miserable and in great pain. His wife even told him to curse God and die. Job also had three visitors that claimed to be his friends, but they did more harm than good because they said all these bad things happened because Job had committed some huge sin. Things really looked bad for Job, but just at the right time God came and brought peace and comfort to his heart. God rebuked the three friends and had Job to pray for them. God again blessed Job with great riches, but this time he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 donkeys. That’s double what he had before the bad things happened to him. God also gave him another seven sons and three daughters. The Bible says that “All things work together for good to them that love God…” I believe it, don’t you?
