The Story of the Man Born Blind, Part 1 (John 9)

Back in the days when Jesus was on earth many miracles took place. One of my favorite miracle stories in the Bible is how Jesus opened the eyes of a man that was born blind. After Jesus healed him, the man returned to his own home, and his neighbors couldn’t believe their eyes. They talked about the change in the man, and one of them said “Is not this he that sat and begged?” Some of the neighbors believed he was the same man, but others said he only looked like the blind man that lived in the neighborhood. The man that was healed overheard his neighbors talking about him, and he said, “I am he.” I think it is possible that he also said to them. “I am the same man that sat and begged, but I won’t be doing that anymore because now I can see like everyone else.” Of course the neighbors were glad he could see, but they wanted to know how it happened and they asked him, “How were thine eyes opened?” He told them, “A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.” It truly was a miracle! Boys and girls, do you believe in miracles, and do you believe this miracle really happened to the man that was born blind? I do because it is in the Bible, and I’m sure the man was happy and excited that the miracle happened to him. The man told his neighbors he did not know where Jesus was, but do you think he will ever get to see Jesus again? Yes, he will, and we’ll get to that part of the story tomorrow.
