The Story of the Man Born Blind, Part 2 (John 9)

Why did Jesus tell the blind man to go and wash in the pool of Siloam after he put clay on his eyes? Was there some magic in the water that would heal him? No, only Jesus could heal the man, but I think the man proved by his obedience that he believed Jesus would heal him. His going to the pool could also have caused his faith to become stronger. I’m glad he obeyed Jesus, aren’t you? I’m sure he was also glad when his eyes were opened. They brought the man to the Pharisees to show them what Jesus had done for him. Now the Pharisees were false leaders. They didn’t like Jesus, and they lied to the man telling him that Jesus was a sinner because according to their law it was wrong to heal on the Sabbath day. The Pharisees also had to bring in the man’s parents before they would believe he had really been born blind. After a while, the man became very bold and told the Pharisees Jesus could have done nothing if he were not of God because God does not hear sinners. He said to them, “Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.” The Pharisees became so angry that they kicked the man out, but that’s when he got to see Jesus again. Jesus came to him, and asked if he believed on the Son of God. The man answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?” Jesus said to him, “Thou hast both seen him, and it is she that talketh with thee.” The man then said, “Lord, I believe, And he worshipped him.” What a beautiful ending to a beautiful story; but it was not the end because I believe the man is now in heaven and still worshipping Jesus, don’t you?
