Jesus and his disciples came again into Cana of Galilee where he had turned the water into wine. A certain nobleman (or ruler) came to Jesus and asked him to come to his home and heal his son for he was very sick; in fact, he was almost at the point of death. Jesus knew the nobleman needed help with his faith and said to him, “Except ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe.” I think what Jesus said helped the man’s faith, and he requested once again that Jesus come to his home so his son could live. Jesus then probably surprised the nobleman by telling him to go on home because his son was no longer sick. Jesus had healed him at that very moment. Do you think Jesus can do that, that he can heal someone without his body going to the place where the person lives? What about the nobleman in this story, did he believe it? We know Jesus helped his faith, but he was expecting Jesus to go to his home and heal his son. Does he now believe that his son is no longer sick just because Jesus said it was so? What happens next is so wonderful that I want to read it to you directly from the Bible. “And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.” How exciting! Do you believe Jesus can help your faith and that he can do anything he chooses to do?
Is Jesus able to help our faith and answer our prayers?
