1 Timothy 5:24-25 (KJV)

Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

Matthew Henry comments, “There are secret, and there are open sins (and) God will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make known the counsels of all hearts.” I think a related verse is Hebrews 4:13, “All things are naked and open unto Him with whom we have to do.” There is only one safe way to deal with our sins and one safe place to put our sins; we must confess them to God, and by faith put them under the blood of Jesus. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
