The Story of Abraham, Part 5 (Genesis 14 and 18)

Lot and his family are now prisoners and had been taken away into a strange land to become slaves. When Abraham learned what happened, he took 318 of his trained servants and caught up with the enemy near a place called Dan. At night they attacked and chased the enemy far away. Of course, it was God who gave Abraham and his people courage and strength to overcome the enemy and free his nephew. Nothing was lost. Lot and his family, all of their sheep and cattle, and all their belongings were returned safely to Sodom. Lot was thankful for his rescue, but he now makes a second big mistake. I think he should have moved away, but he chose to still live in the wicked city of Sodom. The people there were guilty of all kinds of sin. It was probably just as bad as in the days of Noah before the great flood. God revealed to Abraham that he was going to destroy Sodom and other cities on the plain because of their sins. Abraham prayed, and God heard his prayer and sent two angels to bring Lot and his family out of Sodom before fire fell down from heaven to destroy the wicked city. His life was saved, but this time Lot lost everything except two of his daughters. Even his wife was turned into a pillar of salt because she disobeyed the angels and turned back to look on the city of Sodom.
