The Story of Isaac, Part 2 (Genesis 23)

It was a sad day for Isaac when his mother, Sarah, died. She had lived 127 years, but now Isaac is lonely and misses her very much. Since Sarah was 90 years old when Isaac was born, can you figure out Isaac’s age at this time? That’s right, he was 37 years old. Abraham realized it was time to find a wife for his son, a wife God would choose for him. God showed Abraham that Isaac’s wife-to-be lived in a far away place called Haran. Do you remember that Abraham passed through Haran on his way to the land of Canaan where he now lives? Do you remember that Abraham’s father, Terah, had died and was buried in Haran? Do you also remember that Abraham’s brother, Nahor, settled and raised his family in Haran? Abraham of course was now too old to travel, but he sends his trusted servant to Haran to find and bring back the bride God has chosen for Isaac. How will Abraham’s servant find the right woman in Haran? Will she be willing to return with him and become Isaac’s wife? We’ll find out tomorrow, and you will be amazed.
