When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
In our day, there are still a lot of opinions about the true identity of Jesus. Was He just a good man, a great teacher, or was He God in human flesh? Seth C. Lewis comments, “You must make your choice…You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God.” May God help me to stand with Peter in declaring, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
