Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
This parable shows how God’s kingdom must increase and overcome all opposition. God’s work on earth may not be valued highly by most humans, but in reality it is the greatest work on earth. Just as the very tiny mustard seed in those countries grew into a very large tree; so does the kingdom of God grow in the world, and so does the life of Christ grow in the heart of believers. Oh, let us “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
