Luke 22:28-32 (KJV)

Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Jesus appreciated the faithfulness of his disciples to himself and to the Father’s will, but he also knew of Satan’s plan to take advantage of their weaknesses and bring them down. Peter would be a special target of Satan, but Jesus prayed for him that his faith would not fail and that he would strengthen his brethren. Friends, let us not forget that in our weakness we also “have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.”
