In our last story by the time Methuselah died at the age of 969 years, there were lots of people in the world. Since people lived longer back in those days, you can imagine how parents would have lots of children, and their children would have lots of children. It didn’t take very long to populate a big part of the earth. Now the sad thing is that nearly all the people on the earth at that time disobeyed God. What happened to them? When people walk away from God’s love, they start walking with the devil, and believing his lies, and doing what he wants them to do. That’s what happened to the people in Noah’s day, and the world became full of all kinds of sin and wickedness. The Bible says that God saw the wickedness of people was great in the earth, and the thoughts and imaginations of their hearts were always on evil things. It got so bad that it grieved God in his heart. God loves all people, but at the same time God is holy, and he hates sin. He gives people time to repent, but he must bring judgment upon them if they do not turn away from their sin and wickedness. Do you think the people in Noah’s day will change their ways or will God have to destroy them in order to free the world from sin and wickedness? We’ll learn more about this tomorrow.
What kind of a world would this be if everyone loved and obeyed God?
